What You Will Do

Your day-to-day as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with NRC, DOE, and other regulatory frameworks, including 10 CFR Part 70 and 10 CFR 50/52. Lead licensing efforts for startup and commercial operation of the enrichment facility, including environmental reviews, safety analyses, emergency preparedness, and NRC engagement.

Regulatory Affairs & Licensing

Direct all licensing activities, interfacing with NRC, DOE, DOD, and other regulatory agencies. Manage pre-application strategy, license application submittals, and implementation of regulatory commitments. Oversee Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA), criticality safety evaluations, fire protection plans, and materials control.

Environmental, Health & Safety Compliance

Establish and oversee a rigorous EHS program consistent with NRC and DOE expectations. Lead development of operational and safety procedures, causal analysis, hazard evaluation, and incident response planning. Guide the creation of a site-wide safety culture focused on continuous improvement and operational integrity.

Quality Assurance & Program Development

Establish and maintain ASME NQA-1 compliant QA programs for procurement, construction, and operations. Serve as senior authority on implementation of NQA-1, Part 50 Appendix B, and configuration management systems. Lead readiness reviews, audits, and independent assessments for regulatory and operational excellence.

Team Building & Oversight

Build and lead high-performing teams across EHS, licensing, safeguards, fire protection, and quality assurance. Provide mentorship and guidance to technical staff, and represent EHS on the executive leadership team.

Required Qualifications

20+ years of experience in nuclear operations, licensing, regulatory compliance, and safety within DOE, NRC-regulated, or Naval nuclear programs. Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline. Proven success managing licensing activities for complex nuclear fuel cycle facilities (Category I or III), advanced reactors, or enrichment plants. Deep expertise in NRC regulations (10 CFR Part 70, 50, 52), NEPA, ISA, and NQA-1 quality program development and oversight. Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams including safety analysis, fire protection, configuration management, and procurement QA. Exceptional track record interfacing with NRC, DOE, DOD, and congressional stakeholders on regulatory and licensing matters. Strong technical writing, policy development, and procedure design capabilities. U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE security clearance (active clearance strongly preferred). On-site work location required; this is not a remote opportunity. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline. Prior experience with mobile or microreactor licensing frameworks. Experience leading new facility design, construction, and operational readiness reviews. Top Secret or DOE “Q” Clearance. What We Offer

The base salary is determined by local market factors and candidate qualifications. The total compensation package may include additional elements such as annual incentives and comprehensive benefits. Employment is at-will where permitted by law.
