The Director, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences Grant Programs (CCTS) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all grant-related activities, with a primary focus on the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) and related multidisciplinary programs. About the Role : The Director is responsible for the full lifecycle of grant management—including the development, submission, and renewal of large-scale, multi-institutional grant proposals—and serves as the lead editor and coordinator for complex submissions. Responsibilities : Directs the development, implementation, and management of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) grant program activities. Responsible for editing, completion, and submission of grants and progress reports, grant development, competitive renewal, and related documents for the CCTS and related multidisciplinary, multi-school, and multi-institutional programs associated with the CCTS. Works with multiple Principal Investigators (PIs), Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs), and Component Directors on the overall research, education, and training functions within the CCTS. Coordinates with the CCTS communications team, including drafting correspondence and grant proposals. Interacts with the CCTS Administration Finance Office for CCTS finances. Responsible for helping execute training programs, workshops, seminars for new investigators, both basic and clinical, on finding funding and writing grant proposals. Conducts and supervises training related to research for internal, hospital, and community groups. Prepares and makes oral presentations at professional meetings. Works with the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences Organization (NCATS) on grants and initiatives. Serves as a liaison to the National Institutes Health (NIH) programmatic staff. Interacts regularly with representatives within the CTSA and Texas CTSA Consortium (TRCC) networks. Serves as a resource for faculty to support the development of research initiatives. Works with investigators across CTSA participating institutions to identify and apply for grants to fund multi-investigator, multidisciplinary, and multi-institutional programs. Facilitates collaboration between clinicians and research scientists, internal and external to the university. Assists in the direction and coordination of CCTS network activities with other regional and national CTSA representatives. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications : Minimum Education : Master's Degree in a related field required; Doctorate Degree in Science or Public Health preferred. Minimum Experience : 7 years of experience in a related research environment including expertise in advanced grant proposal writing and submission is required; 7 years of extensive knowledge in clinical research along with advanced training and experience in program management and strategic management are preferred. Physical Requirements : Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
