Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Hospice and Palliative Care, and in collaboration with the BILH at Home

Leadership Team, The Hospice Director of Clinical Operations executes the overall strategic direction for clinical hospice

operations within BILH at Home. Responsible for providing leadership and direction to clinical managers to ensure

consistent and efficient, impactful delivery of hospice program. Ensures achievement of the organization's hospice

program objectives, mission and long term operational strategic goals. Promotes quality in patient care delivery in

accordance with agency objectives, policies, and procedures within the Hospice Program. Ensures the agency's internal

policies are consistent with effective leadership and support of the agency's employees and programs. Achieves

established financial targets.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

Directs and manages within a highly matrixed organization, driving goals through professional influence and

collaboration within the system.

Serves on or participates in BILH System, partners in care, or other stakeholders committees and external

committees as appropriate. Attends and participates in professional associations and activities.

Supports and directs hospice leaders to ensure optimal clinical management of program services and delivery of

high quality care.

Collaborates with stakeholders within the BILH system to support alignment with overarching quality and cost

goals.

Proactively assesses opportunities within the system to achieve greater success with population health goals and

initiatives.

Establishes and maintains a progressive oriented vision with the Executive Director of Hospice and Palliative

Care and other leadership members. Supports the Executive Director of Hospice and Palliative Care creating a

Strategic Vision / Business Plan for the hospice and monitors forward direction on a consistent basis.

Assures that structure and processes are in place to promote compliance with CoP's and regulatory standards.

Leads and hardwires service excellence strategies as well as a Just Culture philosophy throughout the

organization contributing to patient satisfaction and patient safety initiatives.

Partners with other ancillary areas within the BILH System to assure an effective communication and triage

system is in place for patients, thereby contributing to hospital level goals related to throughput and readmissions.

Establishes effective process flow for communication and the provision of care to all BILH ACO patients.

Remains current with the changing healthcare landscape and assures that hospice is positioned in a fashion that

yields success for the program as well as the system

In collaboration with the BILH at Home leadership team, develops, monitors, and maintains a clinical

organizational structure, culture, and environment which results in the provision of high quality services provided

by the multi-disciplinary team. Aligns practice with quality goals and contributes to the development of

performance improvement mechanisms.

Establishes and maintains good relationships with system wide departments, community organizations, health

care providers, (DME, Pharmacy) state and national home care associations, private and government and

policy/regulatory bodies.

Creates, monitors, and maintains systems and a culture, which result in a high-reliability organization.

Manages and controls the daily operations in delivering patient care providing quality services in accordance with

the established standards of care.

Sustains accountability for reporting of key performance indicators to Executive Director of Hospice and Palliative

Care on a monthly basis or more frequently if indicated by program operations.

Organizes, directs, and monitors program operations to ensure functional scalability and financial / operational

outcomes.

Participates in the Quality program and assures that there are effective methods to loopback trends identified via

quality data reviews.

Participates in establishing educational goals to ensure proper program use and execution including employee

needs analysis, competency training and assessments.

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature reviews,

state and national association participation.

Creates and maintains a culture that is committed to colleague engagement and the satisfaction of all

stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: ? Bachelor's degree required.

? MBA or Master's degree in Health Care Administration or other related field

preferred.

? Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be

considered.

Licensure, Certification &

Registration:

? Registered Nurse license with current licensure to practice in

MA and NH is required.

Experience: ? 7-10 years of management experience in hospice and palliative care operations.

? Demonstrated success in program development, growth, and market planning.

? Experience managing in a matrix structure.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: ? Advanced knowledge of hospice, palliative and end of life topics, programs and

operations.

? Business development, operations management and leadership skills.

? Expertise in developing strategic and tactical plans to meet business objectives

in a large integrated health care system.

? Excellent presentation, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and negotiating

skills.

? Ability to understand the needs of a diverse population and a larger corporate

structure.

? Skills in effectively interacting with internal and external strategic decision

makers at all levels.

? Demonstrated understanding of health care delivery and financing systems.
