Position Summary Under general leadership, the Specialist, Paint Development & Quality leads the development of custom colors, and new processes in the Paint department ensuring maximum quality in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” Essential Functions Leads the development of custom colors to meet client requests. Troubleshoots and makes recommendations to paint and finish challenges and unique client requests. Develops color mixing and painting techniques and processes that improve overall quality and team productivity. Develops and delivers continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives. Provides feedback to management on issues. Maintains high product quality, safety and yield while ensuring optimal cost, use of resources and adherence to best safety practices. Acts as a liaison with the studio related to Paint, finishes, and color development. Supports upgrades, new product, and material introductions by supporting design and engineering teams, creating process plans, tracking budget costs and project schedules, and developing countermeasures for timely completion of project goals. Leads surface and paint production for special project and development vehicles. Creates a safe working environment and ensures workplace safety best practices Drives high quality standards in everything we do such as process control systems, monitoring and managing key product metrics, consistency in documentation, and 5S initiatives. Leads by example of positive reinforcement and makes Singer a World Class Manufacturing organization. Collaborates across boundaries for the best outcome. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education/Experience: Trade certifications Eight plus (8+) years of leadership and technical experience in custom automotive surfacing and painting Deep technical knowledge of automotive paint and related processes Preferred Education/Experience/and or/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field Experience within luxury automotive industry or equivalent brand industry preferred Automotive certifications are highly valued 12+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, restoration, and or manufacturing Prior experience in rapid growth business environment Skills/Abilities and Attributes Deep knowledge and abilities in paint development and application, including base coats, tri and quad coat paints, super fine metallic paints and sealers. Experience with matte, satin and eggshell clear coat finishes over various substrates such as carbon fiber plastics and metals. Knowledge and abilities in surface preparation, sanding and polishing. Strong data analytics, presentation, and reporting experience and abilities to generate and present information to the organization, including the creation of accurate metrics and narrative describing operating results, root cause analysis for problems, and opportunities for improvement Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrates leadership by working in a cross-functional team environment with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively Ability to multi-task effectively in a high-performance, fast-paced, team environment and work to multiple deadlines Ability to adapt within a constantly changing environment Ability to work independently and efficiently Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production High attention to detail Positive attitude, high energy, outstanding work ethic, and thrives Knowledge of basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite As required, must maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and appropriate insurance limits and/or be insurable under the Singer’s company vehicle insurance policy Compensation The starting salary range for this position is between $111,600 - $167,400. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
