The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Security Officer 1 to work at our Doral location.
Core Job Summary
The Security Officer 1 patrols assigned property and grounds to ensure the safety of building occupants and safeguard institutional property. Additionally, the Security Officer 1 provides assistance to individuals that are on University grounds in the event of an emergency.
Core Job Functions
Notifies local police department when backup is necessary. Inspects building, equipment, and access points. Permits entry of allowed personnel after verifying identity. Informs violators of policy and procedures and restrains trespassers. Controls traffic by directing drivers. Checks surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts. Submits reports of surveillance activity and unusual occurrences. Secures all exits, doors, and windows after end of operations. Investigates people for suspicious activity or possessions. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Core Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Minimum 1 Year Of Relevant Experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University's core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
