Wingstop’s global growth demands financial leadership that is both disciplined and forward-looking. The Vice President, Controller serves as the company’s chief accounting officer, accountable for financial reporting, payroll, accounting operations, corporate and international tax, and financial systems. This executive safeguards the accuracy, transparency, and compliance of all financial information, while also enabling the business to scale through automation, artificial intelligence, and modern financial technologies. By delivering reliable reporting and insights, strengthening governance, and building a high-performing team, the VP, Controller ensures Wingstop continues to grow responsibly and with the confidence of shareholders, regulators, and brand partners. We need a proven executive who can provide financial stewardship while also leading modernization of our finance function. This leader must be capable of delivering accurate and timely reporting, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and protecting Wingstop from financial and operational risks. At the same time, the VP, Controller must embrace technology, automation, and AI to create scalable, efficient, and future-ready financial processes. Success will require a balance of technical mastery, operational discipline, and strategic influence. Role Responsibilities
Provides enterprise-wide financial stewardship, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all financial matters. Oversees all financial reporting, including SEC filings, statutory reporting, and management reporting, reinforcing credibility with shareholders, regulators, and brand partners. Leads corporate and international tax strategy, compliance, and reporting, while proactively managing risk and optimizing Wingstop’s tax position. Establishes and monitors internal controls and compliance programs, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), to safeguard company assets and mitigate risk. Manages accounting operations, payroll, credit, and cash management to ensure effective financial discipline and working capital oversight. Drives automation, AI adoption, and financial systems modernization to improve scalability, accuracy, and efficiency across the enterprise. Influences business processes beyond finance, ensuring operational decisions in areas such as supply chain and restaurant operations align with financial integrity and compliance. Partners with the CFO, FP&A, and Investor Relations to provide insights that shape capital allocation, investment strategy, and external communications. Represents Wingstop with auditors, regulators, banks, and external advisors, ensuring trust and accountability in all financial dealings. Builds a high-performing finance team, develops succession talent, and fosters a culture of accountability, growth, and alignment with Wingstop’s values. Anticipates emerging financial, regulatory, and operational risks and proactively positions Wingstop to mitigate exposure and sustain long-term shareholder value. Requirements
Education & Credentials A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. A CPA certification is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Experience At least 15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with 5 or more years in senior leadership at a global, publicly traded company. Demonstrated track record of managing SEC reporting, corporate and international tax, and SOX/internal controls at scale. Proven success leading financial systems modernization, including automation and AI adoption. Experience managing treasury, credit, and cash functions as part of enterprise-level financial oversight. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for executive decision-making. Exceptional leadership and people development skills, with experience building high-performing global teams and succession pipelines. Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and international accounting standards. Strong change leadership capabilities with a record of driving operational excellence, AI adoption, and technology-enabled transformation.
