Overview
My client is a mid-size general contractor specializing in commercial construction, with a focus on high-quality custom interiors and renovation projects across sectors including restaurant/retail, hospitality, office spaces, and exterior work, as well as mid-level ground-up construction. The company emphasizes client partnership, value across the project lifecycle, and a strong culture that values teamwork and safety. The current department comprises a team of 3.
Responsibilities
Report to the Vice President of Estimating and read/understand construction documents independently.
Ensure the quality and timeliness of all estimating and bidding activities.
Review bid documents and examine plans and specifications to prepare a complete scope of work.
Prepare bids after quantifying and qualifying all material quantities for final review.
Check the accuracy of take-offs and prepare bid packages using estimating software.
Communicate with internal and external sources and accommodate flexible hours to meet bid submission deadlines.
Receive requests for estimating and gather information such as vendor quotes, plans, bidding manuals, specifications, addenda, and revisions.
Research material requirements, finishes, accessories, and installation methods.
Follow up on bids or prospects to close transactions and keep Construction leadership informed on potential projects.
Demonstrate ability to lead full bid pursuits from 1–15M and experience with preconstruction agreements, budgets, and project schedules throughout the lifecycle.
Lead and collaborate with the team to ensure successful preconstruction planning and estimation processes.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of estimating or budgeting experience in construction (general contractor, construction manager, or subcontractor), with related roles in project management/owner's representation or design (architecture/engineering).
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as noted above.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, construction cost, scheduling, and accounting principles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project or Primavera P6, Adobe Acrobat, and PDF editing tools.
