Relocation: This job may be eligible for relocation benefits The Role: Responsible for the Deployment of Body Controls Software & Calibration (i.e., BCM – Body Control Module and ELM – Exterior Lighting Module) to various electrical architectures for multiple vehicle programs at General Motors. The Senior Software DRE will own the software and calibration as it impacts the customer and single point contact between GM, in-house teams and the supplier, along with calibration work/integration testing/releasing. You will be responsible for creating, communicating, and leading various types of product plans and ensuring the on-time delivery of a domain-specific system. Supporting integrated ART solution is thoroughly validated end-to-end (from supplier, through vehicle, and to the end customer). Additionally, you will be responsible for managing software related PRTS and ensuring solutions are implemented in a timely manner. Lastly, the Senior SW DRE will be responsible for troubleshooting software-related issues. This role requires a balanced mix of great technical engineering and leadership skills, where you will have a high level of responsibility for program delivery and communication to all levels of leadership within the company. What You’ll do: Plan and Implement Body Controls Software Feature/Function content for different Model Years of the assigned Vehicle(s) in collaboration with the Vehicle Program Team & relevant Engineering Teams (Software Engineering, Calibration, Testing, ..) Work closely with calibration teams to develop program specific calibrations to support various vehicle milestones Deliver a fully integrated software and calibration package that is on-time and with quality to one or more vehicle programs under development Lead the end-to-end software development process during sourcing (as applicable), Product Development Team (PDT) and engineering review meetings, problem resolution during vehicle development and drive continuous improvement opportunities to reduce controller warranty. Support engineering change management activities (PCEs, ECM, CNs) and release of software datafiles for development, production, and service life of the program For assigned Program’s Body Controls Software/Calibration Issues reported by our Internal & External customers (Captured Test Fleet, Vehicle Assembly Plants, Dealerships, end Customers, ..) have complete ownership of Issues – Debugging/Root-Causing thru timely Implementation of Corrective plans to support Program milestones Occasional domestic travel (10%) to vehicle assembly plants, supplier vendors, and other sites may be required. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 5+ years of Hands-on Experience in Automotive Software development/deployment for complex Vehicle Sub-systems. Expertise in AUTOSAR compliant ECU Embedded Software Development Very Good understanding of Electrical Hardware Design and Failure Modes of ECUs, especially with respect to GM’s Vehicle Electrical Architectures Strong experience with Tools & Technologies such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, Vehicle Spy/Vector CANoe, dSPACE, Jira, GIT, etc. Expertise in developing Body Controls Calibrations for enabling GM Vehicles to comply with US/Canadian and Global Regulations (FMVSS/CMVSS, ECE, China, Middle East, South America, ..) Ability to Test Software Features & Functions at Vehicle & Bench level Ability to quickly & effectively Debug/Root Cause complex Vehicle level Software & Calibration issues Knowledge of Cybersecurity and OTA (Over The Air) Programming Knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing EOL (End Of Line) Process pertaining to ECU Configuration/Testing Deep understanding of various Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills) Master’s degree in an engineering field DFSS Black Belt and agile certifications Prior DRE experience Experience in the product release and specification process In-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data communications, diagnostics Excellent Written & Verbal Communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both Technical and non-technical audiences Strong Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking skills Ability to Manage and Lead multiple projects and assignments with a high level of Autonomy and Accountability for Results Ability to work with and build strong relationships with GM & Supplier colleagues from around the Globe Proven ability in Project Management skills and ability to Teach others
