Job Opening: Construction Accounts Payable Specialist (Onsite – Anaheim, CA)
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Accounts Payable Specialist
with a background in construction accounting to join a dynamic and growing team in
Anaheim, CA . This is a
full-time, onsite position
offering the opportunity to expand your role and responsibilities over time. Compensation: $28 – $32/hour depending on experience and qualifications Industry Requirement: Candidates
must have construction industry experience , preferably with a
general contractor . Key Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years
of experience in construction accounting
Proficiency in
cost accounting , invoice coding, and document tracking
Strong working knowledge of
Microsoft Excel
and other MS Office programs
Experience with
Sage 300 CRE ,
Procore , or similar construction software is preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities (AP Focus):
Manage the workflow of incoming vendor and subcontractor invoices
Pursue and track invoice approvals; maintain clear communication with project managers and vendors
Ensure accurate coding of costs to the correct job, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
Process monthly overhead and operating expenses, including credit cards and fuel charges
Collect and review
lien waivers
for subcontractor payments
Participate in monthly accounting reviews with project managers and the accounting team
Secondary Responsibilities (AR Support):
Assist with monthly billing schedules and client invoicing
Prepare documentation for
AIA billing
submissions
Enter contract budgets and owner change orders
Help resolve billing discrepancies and communicate with clients
Process
cash receipts
and manage collections of aged receivables
Contribute to daily/monthly
cash flow
and
job variance
reports
Support general accounting tasks as needed
Ideal Candidate Will Be:

Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A team player with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization
Familiar with construction cost structures, budgets, and job cost tracking
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
