Maryland State-Wide Position Overview:

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all billing and revenue cycle activities specific to Lead4Life’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP). This role ensures timely and accurate claim submission, reimbursement tracking, and financial recordkeeping in compliance with Medicaid regulations and internal financial policies. The specialist will collaborate closely with PRP program managers to ensure that required documentation is submitted on time to support accurate billing. Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

Prepare, submit, and monitor PRP claims to Medicaid and other payers in accordance with applicable billing guidelines and timelines. Track the status of claims and proactively address denials, rejections, and outstanding payments. Maintain organized, up-to-date financial records for all PRP billing activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Reconcile billing data with internal service documentation and financial systems in coordination with the finance team. Liaise with external billing platforms or clearinghouses to resolve technical or procedural issues impacting claims. Compliance & Financial Oversight

Ensure compliance with Medicaid, state regulatory, and payer-specific billing rules for psychiatric rehabilitation services. Prepare detailed billing reports and summaries for internal review and finance meetings. Assist in audit preparation by compiling and verifying required PRP billing documentation and financial records. Work collaboratively with the finance department to ensure accurate revenue reconciliation and reporting. Coordination with Program Managers

Partner with PRP program managers and staff to obtain timely and accurate documentation necessary for claim submission. Monitor submission timelines and escalate delays or missing information to ensure billing cycles are not disrupted. Provide training or clarification to program staff on documentation standards that impact billing accuracy. Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field (OR equivalent relevant experience). Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in behavioral health or psychiatric rehabilitation. Strong working knowledge of Medicaid billing procedures and behavioral health service codes. Proficiency with billing systems, EHRs, and accounting software (QuickBooks knowledge preferred).
