Vaco is assisting our client in their search for a
Corporate Controller . This role will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial reporting, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance for both the organization and its holding company. This position is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, implementing robust financial controls, and leading a dedicated team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in banking finance, financial reporting standards, and internal controls, which are essential for maintaining the financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Financial Leadership:
Direct the development and execution of the bank’s financial reporting strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices. Executive Reporting & Governance:
Manage the preparation and presentation of consolidated financial statements and key financial metrics to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure full compliance with GAAP, FDICIA, and all applicable federal and state banking regulations. Lead the organization’s response to evolving regulatory requirements and audits. Enterprise Controls & Assurance:
Design and enforce a robust internal control framework to safeguard assets, ensure data integrity, and mitigate financial and operational risks. Audit & External Relations:
Lead the coordination of annual external audits, regulatory examinations, and tax engagements, serving as the primary liaison with auditors and consultants. Operational Excellence:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, tax, CECL, lease accounting, and financial systems. Drive continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes. Strategic Planning & Forecasting:
Partner with the CFO and FP&A teams to lead the annual budgeting process, long-range financial planning, and scenario modeling. Leadership & Talent Development:
Build and mentor a high-performing accounting organization. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with business unit leaders to provide financial insights that support strategic initiatives, M&A activity, and enterprise risk management. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred. CPA designation required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in accounting and financial reporting within the banking or financial services industry. Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, regulatory reporting, and internal control frameworks. Proven track record of leading high-impact teams and driving organizational change. Core Competencies: Strategic thinking with a strong command of financial and regulatory landscapes. Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to excellence. Advanced proficiency in financial systems, data analytics, and reporting tools. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
