Payroll Systems Director
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive techno-functional support to the Payroll Department, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, security, and efficiency of all payroll-related systems. This position demands a deep understanding of PeopleSoft Payroll, Time and Labor, SQL, and system interfaces. The individual serves as a key liaison among Payroll, HR, IT/DTS, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, test, and maintain Payroll and Time & Labor systems.
Lead system testing for upgrades, patches, and new implementations.
Support the resolution of issues related to W-4 uploads, self-service entries, and timekeeping integration.
PeopleSoft Payroll & Time and Labor
Manage and troubleshoot Time & Labor inputs for 2,000–3,000 nursing staff across 16 groups. Ensure secure and accurate role-based data integration between Smart Square and PeopleSoft. Use SQL to upload, query, and validate data across systems. Navigate PeopleSoft App Designer for troubleshooting and support. Security and Compliance
Maintain payroll security roles and access for new and existing employees. Monitor and implement Tax Updates with oversight to ensure compliance. Maintain documentation including SOPs, system mappings, and audit trails. Reporting & Analysis
Develop and generate payroll summaries and custom reports. Assist in SQL reporting and data pushes to support compliance, reconciliation, and operational analysis. Cross-Functional Support
Act as a liaison between Payroll, HR, IT/DTS, and external vendors. Provide functional support and training to users and team members. Manage inquiries from internal departments (e.g., HR, Benefits) and resolve payroll-related system issues. Training & Documentation
Deliver training to Payroll team members on systems usage and updates. Maintain a knowledge base of SOPs and process documentation for internal use. Tools & Technologies:
Primary Systems: PeopleSoft Payroll, Time & Labor, Smart Square Languages & Tools: SQL, PeopleSoft App Designer Reporting: Custom Payroll Reporting, SQL-based data extraction Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
