This is an exciting opportunity to join the Breast team as a full time (10pa) Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist (symptomatic and screening) here at North Bristol Trust. The post will cover all aspects of breast imaging, including the NHS BSP. This post is offered to suitably qualified, positive and patient-focused professionals who want to work in a dynamic, large and high performing Breast Cancer service. Bristol Breast Care Centre delivers both the screening and symptomatic services across 2 sites in Southmead and Weston General Hospitals. Joining the team on a locum basis for 12 months you will have support from the clinical leads and director of screening to establish a set of meaningful objectives and a rewarding job plan. Our service is well managed to provide you with a rewarding role in a great clinical team. The work is varied and provides a unique opportunity to work in a bespoke breast care environment with dedicated provision at 2 sites giving you access to a stimulating and varied clinical environment. Main duties of the job

The symptomatic breast work of the post will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patient . Participation at MDT meetings and the reporting of MRI and staging CT expected. Depending on the experience of the post holder, the role may also involve stereo core biopsies, MRI guided biopsies, CT angiography pre-reconstruction and ultrasound guided VAEs. About us

Person Specification

Qualifications & Registration

MBBS and FRCR or equivalent Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice. Must have a CCT in Clinical Radiology or equivalent and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of the appointment. Specialist Registrars that do not hold a CCT must be due to be awarded one within 6 months of the interview date. Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD) Training & Experience

Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent) Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience including higher Radiology training, 5 years as a Radiology registrar in an approved training post or equivalent Experience in Breast clinical examination, assessment and one-stop clinics Breast interventions procedures including ultrasound guided and stereo core and VAB biopsies, fine needle aspirations and wire localisations under mammogrpahic and ultrasound guidance Proficient in General and cross-sectional radiology Management Audit Training

Experience in audit projects Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies Completion of a general management course or programme Research Teaching Publications

Knowledge of principles of research Proven teaching ability Willingness to undertake teaching of medical under-graduates & postgraduates Research experience Evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management Other Requirements

Ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships within a team Ability to inspire, motivate and develop junior medical staff Ability to work independently as well as part of the multidisciplinary team. To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole Good verbal and written communication skills Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels Disclosure and Barring Service Check
