Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant - ENT/Urology - Temporary. The Physician Assistant will provide care to patients in the Department and in the subspecialties as needed. The Physician Assistant will follow established standards, procedures, and practices, and give specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
Responsibilities
Practices within the scope of delineated privileges.
Provide direct care to individuals and families consistent with the philosophy of Lutheran Medical Center and the departmental/institutional goals. This includes the provision of safety, well being of patients and visitors, and maintenance of patient rights and confidentiality
Provide diagnostic and assessment services to patients in the Department of Surgery utilizing a problem solving approach: obtain a detailed history and perform physical examinations, take into consideration the age and developmental stage of the patient, write appropriate orders after consulting with a physician, implement a therapeutic regime, monitor the patient\'s response, notify the attending physician of changes, and consult specialists for complex situations.
Documentation of all patient encounters including patient assessment, progress notes, treatment rendered, patient teaching, follow-up, and referrals.
Maintain required unit records, reports, and statistics necessary for administrative purposes and reimbursement, including discharge summaries.
Evaluation and management of critical care patients.
Perform emergency life-saving procedures in the absence of a physician.
Participates in rounds with the attending staff and/or housestaff on assigned patients.
Collaboratively work with other healthcare professionals and families of patients in the transitions of admissions, care, and discharge.
Provide preventive health services including counseling and teaching in health maintenance.
Participates in quality improvement activities as needed and participates in committees as appropriate.
Attends scheduled departmental meetings/conferences and is on call during non-working hours to assist attendings in urgent or emergent situations.
Direct, instruct and evaluate activities of P.A. and medical students as appropriate.
Participates in activities fostering professional growth and maintenance of certification.
Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a Bachelors or master\'s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Currently Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. DEA Certificate required.
Required Licenses:
Physician Assistant Lic-NYS, Ntl Com Cert Physician Asst, Basic Life Support Cert
Preferred Qualifications Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association or Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics may be required based on your selected privileges. 1 year of applicable job experience preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
