A professional services company in East LA is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field 10+ years of accounting experience Must be an experienced Accounting Manager Active CPA Must have large company experience Advanced Excel What will you do in this Accounting Manager role?
Supervise the daily functions and workflows within the accounting team. Develop and maintain detailed documentation including journal entries, general ledger records, financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting calculations or schedules. Direct and review staff-generated journal entries and postings across the general ledger and sub-ledgers. Compile and analyze financial statements for both standalone entities and consolidated groups, including the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. Prepare and validate monthly financial reports, ensuring the accuracy of P&L statements and addressing management inquiries as needed. Compare financial results against budget forecasts, conducting trend and variance analyses, and working closely with the FP&A team to interpret results. Evaluate labor, materials, and overhead costs against standards and budget expectations; investigate discrepancies in coordination with FP&A. Review inventory valuation and associated adjustments; provide insights and recommendations to the Controller. Manage the year-end close process and reporting activities, including upkeep of the chart of accounts. Coordinate audit and tax-related schedules, ensuring readiness for year-end filings. Track and manage deadlines for key financial obligations, such as debt service, property taxes, insurance, and distributions. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation schedules. Monitor short-term cash flow requirements and surpluses; communicate findings and projections to appropriate stakeholders. Lead the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Review and approve all tax filings before submission to regulatory bodies. Ensure all accounting tasks are completed on schedule and meet compliance standards. Collaborate cross-functionally to verify data accuracy and deliver timely expense analysis relative to budget, in alignment with FP&A. Assess and refine accounting procedures and controls; partner with management to implement process improvements and strengthen internal control systems.
