A well-established real estate firm is seeking a highly motivated
Senior Financial Reporting Manager
to join its San Diego-based team. This role reports directly to the Corporate Controller and collaborates closely with senior accounting leadership and executive stakeholders across the organization. This is a high-impact leadership position within a fast-paced, high-performing accounting function, offering meaningful exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity for long-term career advancement. The role includes oversight of key reporting processes and supports cross-department initiatives. The position follows a
hybrid schedule : 4 days in-office and 1 day remote per week (subject to change based on business needs). Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, consolidation, and review of monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting, including financial performance summaries for executive leadership, board members, investors, and lenders.
Coordinate with external auditors to prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and footnotes for both consolidated and subsidiary-level entities.
Review and manage deliverables required under loan agreements, including complex lender-specific NOI calculations. Collaborate with IT to develop automated reporting tools.
Stay current with changes to GAAP and regulatory standards; evaluate their impact and prepare technical accounting memos as needed.
Analyze contracts and agreements to identify potential accounting and reporting implications.
Play a key role in property acquisitions and dispositions, including review of closing statements and purchase price allocations in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain and enhance financial reporting systems. Customize and optimize reporting functionality in collaboration with the IT team.
Provide support for ongoing and ad hoc projects related to accounting operations, compliance, and financial reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
5–8 years of experience in financial reporting; public accounting (Big 4) background strongly preferred
Industry experience in real estate or lease accounting is highly desirable
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation
Advanced Excel skills required; experience with MRI, BPC, or Oracle-based reporting tools is a plus
CPA designation preferred
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
