Position Summary

The associate is expected to lay out, align, and weld metal components used in utility poles and structural assemblies. This Associate will read blueprints, perform precise welds, and maintain high safety and quality standards. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to meet production goals are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, align, and weld fabricated metal components for utility/engineered support structure poles and related structures.
  • Interpret blueprints and fit components accurately in preparation for welding.
  • Perform structural welding tasks following established procedures and safety standards.
  • Use hand tools and measuring devices to ensure precision and quality.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency to meet production deadlines.
  • Take ownership of tools and equipment, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and uphold all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare components for welding by fitting together in a ready-to-weld condition.
  • Utilize all safety devices and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Wear PPE and work in non-temperature-controlled environments and outdoors as required.
  • Safe operation of overhead cranes, jibs, and plasma cutting equipment.
  • Submit two safety contact cards on a monthly basis.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.

Important Details About the Role

  • The associate is responsible for their own work and must work with others to complete jobs.
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing products or setting up machinery.
  • Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets for proper fit and welds.
  • Direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, total manufacturing expenses (TME), and customer satisfaction.
  • This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a 1G weld test.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for accurate product fit-up.
  • Proficient in basic math and measurement systems; proficient tape measure skills.
  • Understanding of quality standards and production requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work efficiently and deliver error-free results on time.
  • Support other team members as able.
  • Must have high safety awareness at all times.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-3 years of experience in an industrial welding position.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
  • Positive communication and teamwork.
  • AWS certified welder operator qualification for SAW and GMAW processes.

Educational Background & Computer Software

  • Experience with Mii to enter and track personal productivity.
  • Outlook for company communications.
  • Utilize workforce software to request time off.
  • Access prints via EVAULT as needed.
