PACU RN Job Details – Los Alamos, NM

Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel nursing contract) | Healthcare Setting: 47-bed acute care facility with a 3-bed PACU unit | Shift: 8-hour day shifts (06:30–14:30) | Hours per Week: 40 | Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/08/2025 – End: 12/08/2025) | Weekend/On-Call: Every other weekend and on-call coverage required (30-minute response time) | Orientation: Weekly, every Monday | Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1950-$2000

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients
• Monitor and assess patients recovering from surgical procedures (e.g., appendectomy, gallbladder surgery)
• Collaborate with surgical and pre-op teams; shared responsibilities with Preop (no floating outside unit)
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using CQI and Medhost EHR systems
• Respond promptly to on-call cases within 30 minutes as required
• Ensure patient safety and adhere to infection control standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for New Mexico (NM nursing jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nurse experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Fingerprinting and background check required per New Mexico healthcare regulations
• Strong clinical skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced perioperative environment
• Professional appearance and compliance with perioperative nursing dress code (no open-toed shoes, unapproved fingernails)
