Warehouse Sanitation role at UNFI Canada

Join our team and help maintain a clean distribution center. This role focuses on cleaning duties and basic maintenance to support warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility is cleaning of the distribution center (approximately 75% of duties).
• Perform routine cleaning including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors; dusting; washing walls, doors, and windows; and emptying trash.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs; assist service personnel as needed; report major repair and maintenance needs.
• Assist with snow removal as required.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

• Ensure that you have all of the needed janitorial equipment.
• Operate floor scrubber.
• Sweep and vacuum dock plates.
• Sweep and mop sanitation barriers.
• Empty trash bins from all locations including cooler, grocery and loading dock, offices and break areas.
• Empty cardboard and plastic recycling and compact.
• Keep all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
• Remove empty pallets and clean and mop slots.
• Discard leaking product and record on the reconditioning log.
• Report any violation of company policy to supervisor or lead.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
• Use good judgment, as there may be times when direct supervision is not immediately available.

Required Knowledge

• Understands safety guidelines.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers.

Experience Required

• Warehouse/operations experience is preferred but not required.

Skills/Abilities

• Understand procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
