Under general supervision, is responsible for customer service activities in a particular department, involving the handling of requests and/or complaints regarding City services. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.

Work Location: Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center - 900 E Market Street, San Antonio, TX 78205

Work Schedule: Schedules will vary with shifts being subject to change to include days, nights, weekends, rotating shifts, and holiday shift work schedules as dictated by business needs.

  • Answers telephone, takes information, refers calls to proper departments.
  • Provides information regarding city services, functions, attractions, transportation, schedules, etc.
  • May greet tourists and visitors in person or by telephone and answers questions.
  • Inputs data and maintains databases.
  • Compiles and prepares information and reports as requested.
  • May prepare badges and registration information.
  • May collect money using various payment methods.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • One (1) year experience dealing with the public servicing client/customer requests.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in providing highly satisfactory customer service.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Applicant Information

  • Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.

  • Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good public relations with the general public and City staff.
  • Ability to read a map and give detailed directions.
  • Ability to operate a telephone and other basic office equipment.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
