The Workday Architect leads the design, configuration, and governance of our Workday tenant. This role is critical to ensuring our Workday environment supports the complex and evolving needs of a modern higher education institution, including Human Capital Management (HCM), Financials, Payroll, and Student. Serving as a key member of the enterprise systems team, works collaboratively across administrative and academic units to align tenant architecture with institutional goalssupporting operational excellence, compliance, and strategic transformation. This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days in the office weekly to facilitate collaboration and teamwork. In-office presence enhances engagement with staff and students, fosters idea-sharing, and contributes to a dynamic work environment. Being on-site enables stronger connections, more effective problem-solving, and improved team synergy, all vital for achieving our collective goals and driving success. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The University cannot sponsor work authorization for this role, now or in the future. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; Masters degree preferred. 5+ years of Workday experience, including tenant architecture, configuration, and security. Demonstrated expertise in at least two Workday functional areas, such as HCM, Financials, or Payroll. Workday certifications (e.g., Workday Pro, Workday Certified Architect, HCM/Finance/Security) are strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of Workday integration tools and frameworks (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, APIs). Experience with Workday Student or experience implementing enterprise systems in higher education. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead the architectural design and governance of the Workday tenant, ensuring alignment with higher education requirements and best practices. Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and future-proof tenant configurations across all Workday domains (HCM, Financials, Payroll, Student). 55% Serve as the architectural liaison between functional leads, IT, and Workday, translating institutional needs into sustainable tenant solutions. 10% Manage security design and access controls to support the privacy and compliance standards of a higher education environment. 10% Oversee configuration change processes and maintain environment integrity across production, sandbox, and implementation tenants. Maintain detailed documentation of tenant architecture, decision frameworks, configuration inventories, and audit logs. 20% Lead peer reviews and provide technical mentorship to Workday analysts and support staff. 5% Position Type
