A leading provider of materials for commercial construction projects is seeking an experienced and motivated Outside Sales Representative to join their team. This position is ideal for a relationship-driven professional with strong communication skills and proven success in sales, preferably within the commercial construction or related industries. The role combines fieldwork—visiting active construction sites and collaborating with Site Supervisors—with remote and office-based responsibilities to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and grow an established portfolio of client accounts while actively engaging in lead generation and prospecting to identify new business opportunities.
* Communicate regularly with Site Supervisors and project teams to confirm job site readiness, verify appliance requirements, and ensure accurate delivery scheduling.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams to support bids, proposals, and project coordination efforts.
* Analyze data, prepare reports, and create presentations using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as needed.
* Maintain a proactive and mobile work style, utilizing a company-provided laptop, phone, and vehicle to conduct sales visits within a designated territory.
* Travel primarily within a 200-mile radius of Richmond, VA, with occasional day trips to other areas of Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland.
* Deliver consistent sales performance by meeting or exceeding established KPIs.
* Participate in the transition and management of existing accounts to ensure a smooth handoff and continuity of service.
* Visit job sites as needed, adhering to all safety protocols and equipment requirements (e.g., hard hat, steel-toe footwear).
Qualifications:
* Previous sales experience required; experience in commercial construction sales or related fields strongly preferred.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; PowerPoint experience is a plus.
* Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of construction processes beneficial.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
* Comfortable working both remotely and in the field on active job sites.
* Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
