Delivery Driver role at Border States. Location: West Columbia, SC. This is a full-time position with company-wide employee ownership. Note: This position may be filled before or after the listed application deadline. Applications will be accepted while the posting remains active.

Job Summary

Supports the day-to-day operations of the Warehouse by providing delivery and warehouse services. Delivers materials to Border States branches and customer sites, maintains vehicles, and ensures compliance with DOT/state inspections. Keeps a clean vehicle, maintains logs and inspection reports, and completes driver summaries and related records. Loads and unloads materials and provides exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Provide delivery of material to Border States branches and customer sites based on business needs.
  • Maintain delivery vehicle in clean, good working condition and monitor maintenance and mileage data as required.
  • Schedule and ensure regular maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
  • Schedule DOT/state mandated inspection visits as required.
  • Maintain daily driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets.
  • Complete truck summaries, driver logs and other required records; manage truck expenses and documentation.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations.
  • Understand truck routes and coordinate deliveries with our own trucks, assigned freight companies, or other carriers as needed.
  • Load and unload material at the branch and customer locations.
  • May perform warehouse functions such as order filling, stocking, processing returns, receiving and shipping as needed.

Non-essential Functions

  • Perform or assist with other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • May conduct Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as part of daily routes.
  • May check and pack material to be delivered.
  • May maintain shipping equipment and keep work area clean and safe.
  • Assist the City Desk and Will Call areas with customer service tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

  • Two years of work experience preferred.
  • Prior warehouse distribution experience including forklift operation and knowledge of electrical products/systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles required.
  • Current medical certification required.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Internet; SAP software is a plus.

  • Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills: competence, accuracy, responsiveness, and engagement.
