The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating alternatives leading to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality. This position is responsible for every aspect of process engineering, industrial engineering, and production standard costs, tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, and troubleshooting in assigned areas of responsibility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Identifying opportunities or implementing changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Determining root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommending changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Evaluating manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Incorporating new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
- Investigating or resolving operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
- Preparing documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
- Providing technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Coordinating activities in scrap reduction, elimination of rework, material variances, labor variances, safety & ergonomic evaluations, and overall continuous improvement in assigned areas.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Reading and interpreting customer and industry specifications.
- Maintaining proper documentation (traceability, customer requirements…) and completing production routers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or applicable field.
- Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- 0-3 Years of experience in the manufacturing field or in a related area.
- Proficiency with use of CAD Software, AutoCAD a plus.
