Position Overview
The Senior Grant Accountant will perform accounting and financial analysis for NARA programs, lead process improvement and modernization initiatives for the Grant Finance Team, and serve as a resource and adviser to team members. What You Will Do
Proactively monitor program use of grant and contract funds to ensure optimization of resources and program completion. Maintain continual understanding of grant and contract funding sources and budgets, including interdependencies and compliance requirements. Work with program teams in enhancing their understanding of financial implications of programmatic and operational decisions. Prepare regular, timely and monthly budget to actual financial reports for program managers. Regular budget meetings with program managers Grant Reporting: Review General Ledger Entries for allocating expenses to funders including: payroll and related expenses, indirect cost expenses and large events. Prepare monthly reconciliation of general ledger to funder reports and invoices. Regularly review expenses allocated to grants and contracts to confirm allowable expenses based on approved budget. Prepare supporting documentation for reports required by federal grants and other funders. Assist with responding to grant audit requests and other funder requests. The Senior Grant Accountant will collaborate with the Grant Finance Manager to: Identify areas for process improvement; develop, test and implement new processes, systems, tools, etc., to streamline process. Onboard and prepare new Grant Finance Team members for success in their role. Serve as a resource to Grant Finance team members, providing advisement and troubleshooting as needed.
