This role is in the Harpur College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office, in partnership with the Harpur Edge Office, leading and developing student and alumni programming in coordination with Harpur Constituent Relations and Harpur Edge. Responsibilities
Event Planning: Lead and implement events, including donor-funded annual lectures, Homecoming events, Harpur College Week activities, University Fest, Admissions Open Houses, Family Weekend Events, and Pre-Law events on and off campus. Provide ad hoc support for Dean's and departmental events involving alumni councils. Internship, Programming and Course Support: Coordinate the Harpur Law Council's summer Public Interest Law and Private Sector Law Internship Programs; work with applicants, internship committees, hosts, and serve as instructor of record for the course during summer (supervising 14–20 interns). Coordinate two winter session courses taught by alumni in NYC each January (scheduling, course building, promotion, attendance, assistance with Brightspace, grading, and alumni volunteer stewardship). Alumni Engagement: Collaborate with Harpur Edge Director on Healthcare Mentor Program expansion, including outreach to potential alumni hosts, program promotion, and coordination. Alumni Relationships: Cultivate new alumni contacts, host alumni for on-campus visits and programming, and strategize opportunities for alumni volunteers to deepen engagement with Harpur College. Administration: Create and maintain internal calendars, manage public events calendars, utilize online systems for event planning and budget management, and enter alumni volunteer actions into databases. Administer donor-funded graduate research awards and coordinate impact reporting for stewardship and donor reporting. Communications and Outreach: Promote student opportunities via newsletters, social media, and other platforms; participate in donor scholarship and award review processes. Supervise undergraduate student staff/interns in coordination with Harpur Edge leadership. Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution Three or more years of progressive experience in program coordination, event planning, student services, or alumni relations Experience managing multiple projects and events with competing deadlines Ability to take initiative and work both collaboratively and independently Effective verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences (alumni, donors, students, faculty) Attention to detail and strong customer-service orientation Ability to participate in evening/weekend programming and occasional travel Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with alumni Professional experience in volunteer management Experience with database management (e.g., Millennium) Experience with facility reservation and event management software Experience leveraging LinkedIn and other platforms for outreach and engagement Knowledge of the college student population Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
