Overview
Position: VP, Enterprise Risk Management at The Clearing House. Position Summary: The Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management is a critical member of the Risk Office responsible for overseeing the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risks. This role leads the Business Risk Management (BRM) team that assists various business units in effective risk management and provides independent second-line review and challenge of key risk activities including RCSAs, product risk assessments, issues, key risk indicators, and controls. It also contributes to the design and development of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and owns the implementation of these frameworks across business units to drive risk management strategies. The role requires a strategic and tactical mindset with deep knowledge of risks, best practices, and tools to mitigate them. Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, development, and execution of the ERM Framework to effectively identify, measure, monitor, and control enterprise-wide risks
Lead the BRM team in providing second line review, challenge and advisory to designated business functions in risk management activities, including engagement with the first line on issues management, RCSA, key risk indicators, and risk assessments
Build, maintain, and enhance relations with department and business heads for smooth implementation of risk management activities
Represent The Clearing House at internal and external risk committees and to supervisors, providing periodic updates on risk matters
Ensure the organization's risk profile aligns with the Business Strategy and Risk Appetite
Monitor and analyze risks within business units and report to internal/external risk committees, supervisors, and other stakeholders
Promote risk culture through effective risk training and tools
Manage and develop junior team members
Support the Head of Enterprise Risk Management in implementing Risk Office goals
Collaborate in a diverse, team-oriented environment with sound judgment and respectful conduct
Partner with ERM on design and build of the enterprise strategic GRC tool
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in risk management, business administration, computer science, engineering, finance, or related field
At least 6–8 years of risk management experience as a subject matter expert in Enterprise or Operational Risk Management
10–12 years of financial services experience managing and implementing enterprise-wide projects, with skills in multi-tasking, process decomposition and reengineering, risk assessments, and due diligence
Experience in Issues Management programs including identification, documentation, monitoring and mitigation of risk
Experience in RCSA programs including process identification, mapping, risk articulation, assessment, and control design and testing
Experience with Agile software development methodologies and associated risk management practices
Proven experience contributing to ERM or Operational Risk frameworks in dynamic organizations
Applied knowledge of internal control, risk management practices, and industry standards
Experience working with a GRC platform (e.g., Archer, OpenPages, or in-house)
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Current knowledge of regulations and emerging industry risks in finance, banking and payments
Qualifications Desired
Advanced degree such as a master's in risk management, MBA in Finance/Business, or related field
FRM, PRMIA or other risk management certification
Experience in Payments or banking technology fields
Experience designing/modifying risk taxonomies, measurement methodologies, or KRI frameworks
Knowledge of IT risk, security architecture, cloud/mobile security, data security, and threat intelligence
Physical Demands and Work Environment The working environment is generally favorable with standard office conditions. Travel may be required. Office work is typically three days per week onsite; onsite requirements may change.
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated annual salary range for NY-based candidates is $170,000–$220,000. Base salary depends on role, experience, skills, and location. Eligible positions may receive discretionary incentive compensation. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with company contribution/match, tuition reimbursement, and more.
