Lead Laborer - Facilities Management and Development
Overview
Under direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, this position oversees, plans and forecasts the work of Laborer staff engaged in manual labor tasks, custodial support, moving support, landscape, and event support. Laborer staff may work independently or as part of a team. In addition to performing the full range of laborer duties, the incumbent acts in a lead capacity and is responsible for directing the work of one or more employees engaged in laborer tasks.
Responsibilities
Respond to or support laborer staff in the immediate response to safety and/or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, vandalism) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel.
Assist the Support Services Manager with the daily planning and scheduling of laborer tasks and projects. Train and instruct others in the performance of their duties, including appropriate laborer practices and techniques, and the safe use of equipment and materials.
Assign work to others according to established guidelines and procedures.
Oversee and work with a crew of employees engaged in laborer tasks such as moving, event support, reactive/emergent facility responses, Environmental Health and Safety support, and FMD trades crews support.
Move, transport, load and unload heavy objects such as furniture, equipment, materials and supplies.
Education and Experience
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required qualifications.
Licenses, Certificates, Degrees, Credentials: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain one by date of hire. This position may require the ability to obtain AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training as well as the ability to wear respiratory protection. A Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation is required prior to the use of a respirator. May be required to use a motor vehicle to transport and deliver heavy/large items.
Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range: $46,000 - $60,000 per year
Classification Range: $44,160 - $71,460 per year
