LOCATION: Grand Rapids - W.A Lettinga Campus • Hybrid Schedule
REPORTS TO: Director of Alumni and Donor Engagement
SALARY: $55,000 - $60,000
The Davenport University Office of Advancement is seeking an associate director of annual giving and engagement. This role strategizes, plans, and executes the mass outreach strategy to increase and diversify the number of donors and philanthropic dollars to Davenport University. Through intentional outreach with Davenport alumni, you will empower and support students as they pursue their educational goals and raise funds for student scholarships and strategic university initiatives.
Responsibilities
Grow annual giving through an intentional mass solicitation campaign.
Strengthen alumni and donor relationships through engagement opportunities.
Enhance the universitys alumni association digital presence.
Serve as a liaison for annual giving across the University.
Position Overview
Annual Giving (40%): Develop strategies to increase the number of alumni giving annually; manage the universitys annual mass appeal campaign with college-specific and athletics alums.
Utilize channels such as mail, email, phone, text, social media, and crowdfunding to maximize outreach and engagement.
Act as a liaison to athletics and individual colleges to support mass giving strategies.
Collaborate on targeted fundraising efforts for specific areas within the university.
Alumni Engagement (40%): Build and execute an alumni engagement plan; improve the quality of alumni relationships with the alma mater.
Develop social media strategies to engage alumni and donors and showcase the universities impact.
Implement mass engagement communications across all mediums; enhance the social media/online presence with the advancement team.
Provide onsite event support for alumni events.
Stewardship (20%): Drive annual stewardship communications for annual giving and scholarship donors; ensure timely and meaningful donor communications.
Regulations
Adhere to privacy rules and regulations (e.g., FERPA).
Follow external and internal regulations and policies (NCAA, GLIAC, and related athletics or role-specific guidelines).
Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate the Universitys cultural values.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communication, or related field required.
Experience:
3–5 years in marketing, events, communications, or advancement preferred.

Ability to work with athletics, colleges, and alumni engagement teams.
Digital Marketing:
Familiarity with digital channels (social media, email, crowdfunding) for campaigns.
Strategic Thinking:
Capacity to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
Relationship Building:
Ability to cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders.
This role requires a dynamic individual capable of driving fundraising across multiple channels while maintaining strong donor and stakeholder relationships.
