Brookdale Greenwood Village seeks a Resident Engagement Director to lead, develop, and manage engaging resident programs that promote a culture of engagement and positive perceptions of aging. Responsibilities
Promotes, creates, develops, and maintains an environment that supports a culture of engagement based on Brookdale’s Engagement Philosophy. Creates and manages the community’s resident programs department with a person-centered approach. Hires, trains, and supervises at least 2 full-time associates; recruits and develops staff to meet residents’ needs; makes decisions on development, discipline, and termination in partnership with the Executive Director. Develops and manages a culture of engagement reflective of adults; leverages engagement concepts and differences to create meaningful resident experiences. Collaborates with resident engagement staff to understand each resident’s interests; plans spontaneous, meaningful programming; fosters social connections and friendships among residents. Promotes purposeful opportunities for residents, networks with outside resources, and may drive a community vehicle to provide meaningful opportunities outside the community. Ensures resident experience and welcome protocols are implemented properly; provides subject matter expertise to leadership on engagement and quality of life. Oversees special events and monthly programming calendars; ensures programs align with residents’ interests and company initiatives. Ensures compliance with BEST and applicable state, federal, and other regulations related to resident programming and engagement; manages department budget and vendor contracts. Supervises volunteer programs and fitness center where applicable; represents the department in community meetings and regional trainings as required. Oversees social media content alignment with Brookdale’s culture and brand; coordinates planning and partnerships across service lines to broaden engagement across the campus. Qualifications
Education and Experience
A minimum of 3 years of direct experience with adults, coordinating, planning, and executing programs is required. Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, health care, education, or related field preferred. Leadership experience is required. Certification as an Activity Director strongly preferred or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. Certifications, Licenses, And Other Special Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain a commercial driver’s license based on community needs. Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Standing, walking, sitting; use of hands; reaching with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Talk or hear; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; vision Interaction with co-workers, residents or vendors; occasional weekend/evening/night work as needed; on-call as needed Possible exposure to communicable diseases, latex, blood-borne pathogens, chemicals Driving residents as needed Management/Decision Making
Uses analytic skills and understanding of resident programming to make department decisions; leads overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of resident engagement and programming; supervises in accordance with policies and laws. Knowledge And Skills
