Certification as an Activity Director strongly preferred or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. Full-time associates are eligible for an annual bonus incentive and sales referral bonuses. Temporary associates may participate in the 401(k) program. Promotes, creates, develops, and maintains an environment that supports a culture of engagement based on Brookdale’s Engagement Philosophy. Leads the resident programs department with a person-centered approach, building relationships and connections. Hires, trains, and supervises at least 2 full-time associates; recruits and develops staff to meet residents’ needs. Makes decisions related to associate development, discipline, and termination, in partnership with the Executive Director. Develops and maintains an innovative, continuous culture of engagement reflecting adults’ needs; fosters meaningful, resident-centered engagement with spontaneity and social connections. Coordinates purposeful opportunities for residents, networks with community resources, and may drive a community vehicle to provide opportunities outside the community. Ensures resident experience and welcome protocols are implemented properly. Provides subject matter expertise to leadership regarding engagement and quality of life; promotes interdepartmental cooperation to support resident-resident connections. Supports operations by ensuring engagement opportunities support the highest resident experience and satisfaction. Collaborates with the Resident Engagement team on plans and execution of special events (holiday, family, Friends for Life, educational, and marketing events). Oversees the development of the monthly programming calendar; ensures alignment with residents’ interests and company initiatives. Ensures compliance with BEST standards and state/federal regulations related to programming and engagement; manages department budget and vendor contracts. Where applicable, manages volunteer programs and the fitness center; represents the department in community meetings and regional trainings. Oversees social media content alignment with Brookdale’s culture and guidelines. Qualifications

Education and Experience: Minimum 3 years of direct experience with adults, coordinating, planning, and executing programs. Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, health care, education, or related field preferred. Leadership experience required. Certification as an Activity Director strongly preferred or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements: Valid driver’s license; may require commercial driver’s license depending on community needs. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Standing, walking, sitting; use of hands; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional weekend/evening work; on-call as needed; exposure to various hazards and driving responsibilities as required.
