Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Chief Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts for large-scale public and private sector projects across the Tri-State area. This is a high-impact leadership role for a strategic thinker with deep estimating experience and strong subcontractor relationships, particularly in New York. Founded in the 1980s, our client is a premier General Contracting and Development firm with a legacy of delivering over $2 billion in complex construction projects. Headquartered in Roseland, NJ, the company specializes in heavy construction for public works agencies and private clients, with active projects throughout NYC and NYS. Known for its collaborative culture and long-standing industry relationships, the firm is expanding its estimating team to support continued growth and succession planning. Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Lead and manage the estimating department, overseeing all phases of preconstruction. Project Estimating:
Develop comprehensive estimates for projects exceeding $100MM, covering all trades from sitework to electrical. Documentation:
Review and analyze contract documents, scopes, and bid packages for owners and subcontractors. Subcontractor Relationships:
Build and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships, especially within the NY market. Proposal Planning:
Prepare GMP, lump sum, and design/build proposals with detailed phasing and logistics plans. Quality Control:
Evaluate self-perform work, including concrete, and integrate into overall estimates. Profile
Minimum 15 years of estimating experience with a General Contractor. Proven expertise in purchasing, contract review, and proposal development. Strong network of subcontractors and suppliers in the Tri-State area. Experience with public sector bidding, including low-bid lump sum projects. Skilled in developing bid-level schedules and phasing plans. Technologically proficient with strong analytical and communication skills. Background in business development and strategic planning is a plus. Job Offer
