Assistant Coach - Men's Soccer (Part-Time)
at City Colleges of Chicago, Daley College Daley College's Athletic Department is looking for an Assistant Coach for the Men's Soccer Team. This position assists the head coach with organizing the soccer program, conducting practices, motivating student athletes, and instructing in game strategies and techniques. Responsibilities
Assists in recruiting student-athletes for participation in intercollegiate athletics. Cooperates with academic advisers to support the academic progress of student-athletes. Assists players in reaching their athletic potential through athletic training and leadership. Recruits, counsels and advises students regarding athletic performance and personal development. Plans and conducts well-organized practices and contests. Identifies and recruits new players, including traveling to regional high school and club soccer events and showcases. Enforces and maintains an athletic program policy focused on educating and graduating student-athletes. Works with the Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and other administrators to ensure student-athletes are academically eligible. Plans and directs training for student athletes and assesses abilities to determine appropriate team positions. Conducts in-season and off-season practices and conditioning, including skills and weight training. Ensures compliance with NJCAA rules and regulations. Monitors academic, conduct, and physical requirements for each student athlete. Maintains records and statistics for reporting to the NJCAA and regional agencies. Contributes to professional development activities for Athletic Department personnel. Enforces the District/college codes of conduct. Supervises student athletes during practice, contests, and travel. May drive college vehicles to and from contests. Communicates contest results to the Sports Information Assistant by 10:00 AM the next business day and provides information for publicity. Coordinates care and reporting of incidents and injuries to appropriate personnel. Prepares a season summary and advocates for student honors within conference, region, and other athletic bodies. Qualifications
Completion of an Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Physical Education or a related field, with 2–3 years of coaching and/or playing experience. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a sport. Coaching certification preferred. First Aid and current CPR/AED certification preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and leadership skills. Ability to act as a positive role model for young adults. Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations. Other Information
Salary: $3,200–$5,600 per season. Offered salary will be determined based on sport and experience. Assistant Coaches are hired on a season-by-season basis. A reasonable effort is made to assign future coaching roles to coaches who have demonstrated successful academic and athletic results at City Colleges of Chicago. All coaching assignments depend on sufficient team membership. Once a season starts, the Assistant Coach is expected to complete the season.
