Job Overview DAVID HALL MASONRY, INC. is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Construction Estimator to lead our expanding Estimating Department. You will oversee a team of 3-4 Estimators, guide the preparation of bid proposals, manage change orders, and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Reporting directly to the Company President, the Estimating Manager handles the full estimating lifecycle—from bid strategy and budget tracking to standardizing estimating procedures. You will help win new work and support project success by delivering well-coordinated, competitive estimates that reflect our craftsmanship and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development Coach and develop a high-performing estimating team; review junior estimators and provide mentorship; manage department KPIs.

Bid Management & Oversight Evaluate bid invitations and assign projects; oversee preparation and submission of bid proposals; revise estimates as needed; coordinate input from departments, subcontractors, and suppliers; monitor proposal formats; maintain bid log and estimating database.

Client & Stakeholder Communication Act as primary contact during proposals; maintain client relationships; participate in pre-/post-bid meetings; coordinate with President on strategy; review awarded contracts.

Process & Quality Control Standardize estimating processes; conduct desk reviews; ensure documentation; track change orders; coordinate material submittals, procurement, and scheduling with Operations; support handoff to Project Management.

Cost Analysis & Optimization Review quotations; analyze data for cost efficiencies; monitor economic trends; factor cost implications into strategy.

Additional Responsibilities Assist with building permit submissions; promote company services to clients.

Qualifications

Experience & Education 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or related leadership role; High School Diploma or GED required; additional coursework in construction management or business is a plus.

Leadership & Team Management Strong leadership abilities; experience mentoring estimating teams; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Communication & Client Relations Excellent written and verbal communication; client-focused with ability to present proposals and lead meetings.

Analytical & Technical Skills Numerate with strong analytical skills; detail-oriented; ability to evaluate bid proposals and change orders; manage supplier relationships and adapt to lead times.

Regulatory & Documentation Proficiency Ability to read and apply technical documents, plans, and regulations; capable of writing reports and documentation.

Software & Technology Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced experience with On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, and Procore.

Industry Knowledge Knowledge of construction standards, estimating methodologies; strong proposal development and presentation capabilities.
