Overview
The George Washington University Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Police Officer 2. The GW Police Department provides primary law enforcement and public safety services to a diverse university population of 25,000 students, faculty, and staff across two urban campuses in Washington, D.C. The department emphasizes professional growth, development, and community engagement, and operates under core values of accountability, trust, and transparency. Responsibilities
Patrol assigned areas and buildings to enforce DC laws and GW ordinances. Respond to emergencies by assessing the situation and using tact, diplomacy and sound judgment. Assist higher-level officers with investigations or projects, and may appear in court regarding incidents within the University community as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned; duties may be logically related to the position even if not explicitly listed. This position is an Essential work position and requires on-site presence. It is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Minimum Qualifications
Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additional Required Licenses/Certifications
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a phone screening, physical test, and written test prior to an in-person interview. Must possess and maintain a District of Columbia Special Police License and meet the corresponding requirements. Preferred Qualifications
