Data Integrity Specialist - Medical Records_QHS (Full-Time, 40 Hours, Day Shift)

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reviews, researches, and resolves problems and errors concerning the patient medical record number, inconsistencies between the electronic health record, the paper health record, and The Queen’s Medical Center’s (QMC) hospital information system (HIS) databases.
• Performs all duties necessary to maintain the integrity of the enterprise master patient index (EMPI) data in the QMC hospital information system.
• Performs all duties necessary to maintain the integrity of the QMC electronic health record data so that clinicians making treatment decisions are doing so based on accurate information for that patient.
• Investigates and resolves duplicate record issues created by employed staff as well as Queen’s Connect and other entities leasing The Queen’s Medical Center electronic health record system.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking.
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer; microfilm reader.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to noise/vibration from pneumatic tube system and telephones.
• Subjected to moving files, electrical wires and rolling ladders/step stools.
• May require after hours and/or on-call work.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field; or two (2) years of experience in healthcare or data management, may be substituted for the education requirement.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Coursework in health information technology or a clinical related field.
• EPIC certification in Health Information Management or Clinical Applications or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to the educational requirement, three (3) years of experience in medical records, clinical, or information technology, preferably in an acute care facility.
• Experience with electronic medical records, EPIC highly preferred.
