ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25, within the Chief Technology Office, Shared Platform Services, COTS Software section, the Information Technology Specialist 3 will be part of a team responsible for supporting commercial business applications, including critical applications used by customer agencies with 24x7 coverage. Duties include, but are not limited to: Participate as a technical team lead within the CTO Shared Services COTS Unit. Coordinate and participate in system installations, patching and upgrades. Act as a technical lead for Organic Growth projects or other remediation projects to keep critical systems in line with the CTO N-1 initiative for security and supportability purposes. Work closely with Data Center Hosting (Windows and Linux), Database Administration, Network and the Chief Technology Office staff to support the installation of new systems and maintenance of existing systems. Provide business hour and off hour technical support and maintenance for critical ITS Business COTS systems. Monitor system performance of CTO COTS production systems. Participate in security vulnerability scanning and remediation. Troubleshoot application network and performance issues. Assist with operating system configuration and tuning. Work with Identity Management teams to coordinate and implement Active Directory / directory service integrations. This includes creating new vendor user accounts as well as new Service Accounts and Security Groups. Configure and support web application servers which include Internet Information Services(IIS), Apache HTTP or Tomcat. Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades. Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed. Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
