Position Overview

A construction estimator is responsible for analyzing construction plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects. They must have a strong understanding of construction processes and materials, as well as experience in bidding and managing projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience in healthcare, higher-education, K-12, and Commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans and specifications to accurately estimate project costs
  • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to determine project scope and requirements
  • Prepare and submit bids for construction projects
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project needs
  • Analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating to obtain the best prices and services
  • Create and maintain project budgets and schedules
  • Monitor and track project costs and expenses
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members
  • Provide expertise and guidance on cost-saving measures and value engineering solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and estimating
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and materials
  • Experience in bidding and managing construction projects
  • Knowledge of healthcare, higher-education, K-12, and Commercial construction projects
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in construction estimating software
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
