Assistant Project Manager

Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 annually

Location/Travel: Crofton, MD (70% in-office with 30% travel to local DMV area)

A well-established specialty contractor delivering complex, large-scale projects is hiring an Assistant Project Manager. This role supports day-to-day operations, keeps schedules and budgets on track, and helps drive projects from kickoff through closeout. This position requires hands-on experience producing shop drawings. The team values safety, teamwork, and long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers on scheduling, planning, and execution
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to hit milestones
• Manage project documentation, subcontracts, purchase orders, and reports
• Produce, review, and coordinate shop drawings and submittals with internal teams, vendors, and clients
• Own submittals, drawings, equipment and material tracking, and compliance files
• Identify scope changes and document for potential change orders
• Support quality control, safety initiatives, field coordination, and project closeout
• Assist with payroll tracking, cost reporting, and forecasting
• Conduct safety walks to reinforce safe work practices
• Use construction and project management software to streamline processes

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a project support role within commercial construction
• Must have demonstrated experience producing shop drawings (e.g., detailing, coordination, revisions, and approvals)
• Strong knowledge of contracts, safety standards, scheduling, and budgeting
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD
• Ability to travel: 70% onsite / 30% visiting client sites in support of Project Managers
