Overview

The Proteomics and Genomics Technologies department develops and employs innovative proteomic and genomic technologies to advance basic research programs as well as support a multitude of modalities across Genentech’s therapeutic pipeline. The Neuroscience department aims to discover novel pathogenic mechanisms of neurodegeneration with the ultimate aim of targeting them to alleviate disease. A position is available for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in molecular and cellular neuroscience, iPSC-derived models, and omics data to join the Departments of Proteomics and Genomics Technologies and Neuroscience at Genentech, Inc. We have in-house cutting-edge technologies including proteomics, lipidomics, NGS, CRISPR screens, in vitro and in vivo models, and AI/ML-supported computational biology. The Opportunity

Active areas of research include mechanistic investigation of the impact of disease on key cellular organelles including mitochondria and lysosomes, and high-throughput proteome profiling of perturbations in iPSC-derived brain cell types. The project will entail a combination of unbiased discovery and hypothesis-driven research to derive causal relationships between pathways contributing to neurodegeneration. You will be responsible for the generation of large-scale datasets, derivation of causal models and follow up mechanistic investigations of novel findings. You will work at the interface between disciplines and leverage expertise from different research areas including proteomics, functional genomics, computational biology and neuroscience. Who You Are

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology, biophysics, biochemistry or a related discipline. Team player with a fearless attitude to tackle long standing, difficult problems in neuroscience. Strong background in culturing and manipulating iPSC-derived models, organelle biology, CRISPR screens or neuroscience as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in peer-reviewed journals. Preferred Qualifications

Strong computational skills to derive mechanistic insights would be advantageous. Highly motivated and capable of independent work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Previous experience with proteomics is not required. Additional Information
