Overview
Director, Data Science – Gilead Sciences. Role may be based in Parsippany, NJ or Foster City, CA. Lead high-impact, cross-functional data science initiatives across therapeutic areas to drive strategic value, innovation, and operational excellence. Partner with stakeholders to establish best practices, streamline operations, and deliver measurable improvements in business performance and cost optimization. We are seeking a visionary Director, Data Science to advance data science across teams and therapeutic areas, champion scalable solutions, and lead cross-TA initiatives (e.g., Medical Digital Assistant, HCP to account mapping, stigma measurement, etc.). Responsibilities
Be a partner in driving the industrialization of predictive sciences to understand the patient journey and market triggers. Understand Gilead's commercial objectives and deploy scalable data science products and insights to influence marketing, sales, medical, and related functions. Lead data science projects end-to-end: translate unstructured business questions into data science solutions, guide offshore resources, contribute hands-on coding, and communicate with stakeholders. Foster a culture of measurement and impact; incorporate feedback to continuously improve models. Bring expertise in statistics and predictive methodologies to construct robust propensity models for commercial use. Create data science products that are refreshable, reproducible, and replicable. Define retraining schedules and measure propensity model impact; partner with global teams to cross-pollinate ideas and replicate successful models. Communicate effectively; simplify backend complexity when appropriate. Competencies

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience or Master’s Degree and 10+ years, or PhD and 8+ years. Strong working knowledge of machine learning algorithms (regression, clustering, neural networks, Bayesian models, RNN/CNN, tree-based methods, SMOTE, etc.). Experience building, implementing, and deploying AI-based solutions with proven business impact. Demonstrated leadership managing initiatives end-to-end; effective written and verbal communication. Preferred Experience
Experience implementing AI-based solutions with proven business impact; pharma/consumer data types (claims, patient data, sales, activity). Expertise with pharma datasets (IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo, Optum, Definitive Health, HealthVerity, EMR/HER) and Python data-science stack (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, seaborn, networkx). Cloud technologies (Databricks, S3) and data visualization tools (Tableau preferred). Product mindset and familiarity with product management principles; strong team-player mindset. Understanding of emerging data science capabilities and their application in pharma/healthcare; knowledge of dataset strengths/limitations and error ranges. Advanced degree requirements: Master’s with 6+ years or Undergraduate with 8+ years in a quantitative field (relevant data science/analytics experience). People Leader Accountabilities

The salary range for this position is: Bay Area: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00; Other US Locations: $205,615.00 - $266,090.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
