JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of sheet metal components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports continuous improvement efforts and helps maintain ISO certification compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform dimensional and visual inspections of fabricated sheet metal parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) as required.
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections per control plans and sampling procedures.
Document inspection results accurately and maintain traceability of inspection records.
Identify and report non-conformances; initiate and support corrective actions.
Support internal audits and customer quality requirements.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
Assist in maintaining calibration records and ensuring inspection tools are in good working condition.
Participate in quality meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and inspection documentation.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality systems.
Experience with CMM or willingness to be trained.
Basic computer skills (MS Office, ERP systems).
Ability to comprehend and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to perform advanced math skills related to a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the inspection and quality control field.
Proficient in the use of basic inspection measurement equipment (i.e., calipers, micrometers, height gauge, comparator, thread gauges, plug gauges, indicator, handheld CMM, etc.).
Ability to pay attention to detail to visually inspect and recognize discrepancies in parts' defects, blueprints, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in quality inspection preferred.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in sheet metal fabrication.
Demonstrated experience in using GD&T principles to measure and assign appropriate gauges for work pieces.
Experience with ISO 9001:2015
Prior experience in completing PPAP and FAI is preferred.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk the duration of the shift, 8-10 hours.
Frequently required to talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or bend.
Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required.
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud when working in the plant, in which hearing protection is required.
