We embrace inclusion and individual skills, ideas, and knowledge. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director of Infection Prevention and Control. In this role, the successful candidate, in addition to fulfilling the core responsibilities of an Infection Preventionist, will play a key leadership role in the department under the direction of the Director of Infection Prevention. This role includes the overall coordination of infection prevention activities, education, surveillance, and regulatory compliance within the organization. The Assistant Director will assist in the daily management and operations of the Infection Prevention Department, including providing coverage for designated hospital areas, oversight of IPC initiatives, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The role involves regular interaction, consultation, and education of hospital personnel on infection prevention practices and other quality-related processes. The successful candidate will support the Director in planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned IPC staff and ensuring effective implementation of the IPC program. Responsibilities also include communication and consultation with local and state health departments and other regulatory bodies as required. Responsibilities

Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, employee health, and other clinical/non-clinical staff to serve as a resource for infection prevention information and guidance. Provides interim leadership and departmental coverage in the absence of the Director. Monitors and ensures compliance with infection prevention policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements established by The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, OSHA, CDC, and local/state agencies. Conducts ongoing reviews and revisions of hospital policies, procedures, and evidence-based guidelines to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with current best practices. Collaborates with hospital committees and departmental leaders to implement changes aimed at reducing the risk of infection transmission. Provides consultation during regulatory inspections and helps ensure departmental and hospital-wide compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborates with procedural areas to standardize materials and processes to align with IPC principles and reduce variation. Assists with statistical data collection and reporting for the Infection Prevention Committee and other quality-related committees as needed. Supports infection control input related to hospital construction, renovation, and reprocessing workflows to ensure adherence to national and professional infection prevention standards. Oversees investigations and management of epidemiologically significant events and outbreaks, ensuring timely intervention and mitigation. Assists in emergency management activities related to infection prevention and supports the hospital's emergency preparedness efforts. Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policy standards, and appropriate recordkeeping. Supervises investigations related to reprocessing failures and infection transmission events; develops and recommends corrective actions and follow-up protocols for exposed individuals. Supports continuous education and advancement of knowledge in the field of infection prevention, for self and staff. Promotes a culture of safety and quality, modeling best practices and professional conduct. Assumes other related duties and responsibilities as assigned, including temporary assignments to meet operational needs. Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Public Administration, or related field with 5+ years of progressive experience in infection prevention and control, or Bachelor's degree in a related field with 7+ years of progressive experience in infection prevention and control. New York State License in Nursing with current registration, if applicable. Active certification endorsed by the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC). Advanced MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with surveillance systems, data entry, and basic data analysis related to infection prevention. Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements including TJC, CMS Conditions of Participation, AAMI, AORN Standards, OSHA, NYSDOH and local county DOH; familiarity with CDC reporting requirements and NHSN. Demonstrated leadership and process improvement skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $95,673.61-$164,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
