Located in Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College boasts a student population of almost 2000. Our Dining Services Department makes everything from scratch and is consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining. We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop, and organic garden that supply food to our two dining halls and three retail locations. The Dining Operations Lead supports daily dining operations at Smith Union, with a primary focus on food prep in Jack Magee's Grill. This role also includes taking and processing customer orders, preparing food, operating point-of-sale systems, and ensuring a clean, well-stocked service environment. The position provides occasional support to other retail operations, including the Bowdoin Express Convenience Store and The Cafe. Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head Chef and Kitchen supervisor, assist with food prep according to prepared recipes Assist the Head Chef with receiving and putting away inventory on a daily basis Assist with operational coverage in the convenience store and Cafe as needed, including stocking shelves and preparing drinks Prepare and expedite orders from the kitchen Operate registers and computerized ordering systems accurately, and train new staff in these systems Support kitchen cleaning and dishwasher operation, and adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, including related documentation Compensation

The hourly rate is $21.00 per hour; the role is eligible for overtime and shift/weekend differential Shift differentials include a 10% premium for 2nd shift, 15% premium for 3rd shift, and an additional $1.00 per hour for weekend hours New employees receive a $500 sign-on bonus (paid after 90 days and upon meeting eligibility requirements) Benefits and Perks

High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or vocational/technical degree preferred Current ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) Self-motivated with strong decision-making and organizational abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills Experience with cash registers and basic computer systems Ability to work independently while contributing to a team in a fast-paced environment Commitment to maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

At least 1 year of work experience in food service, retail sales, hospitality, or related industry Prior experience with computerized cash register systems in food service preferred Prior experience in purchasing, inventory management and receiving preferred Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications in this posting to be considered for hire. Standard Work Days and Hours

This is a full-time, academic year position, working 40 hours per week for 38 weeks per year (0.73 FTE). Includes occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, and coverage during major college events. Regular schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Employment at Bowdoin College is contingent upon satisfactory completion of applicable background checks.
