Open Rank Faculty Position in Classical (Non-Malignant) Hematology

The University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, invites applications for an Open Rank, Open Track faculty position specializing in classical (non-malignant) hematology . Academic rank and tenure status will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

About the Program

The UVA Classical Hematology Program is a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing expert care for patients with a wide range of benign hematologic disorders, including:

  • Hemostasis and thrombosis disorders

  • Anemias and platelet disorders

  • Bone marrow failure syndromes

  • Myeloproliferative neoplasms

  • Other rare hematologic diseases

While the focus of this position is non-malignant hematology , there is flexibility to incorporate malignant hematology based on the candidate s clinical interests and expertise.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide outstanding clinical care to adult patients in both inpatient consultation and outpatient settings

  • Contribute to the division s academic mission through clinical and/or translational research

  • Actively participate in medical education , including teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers

Qualifications
  • MD or equivalent degree required

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Hematology; Internal Medicine board certification strongly encouraged

  • Demonstrated interest and experience in academic medicine, research, and/or medical education

  • Strong clinical skills in classical (non-malignant) hematology

  • Eligibility to work in the United States
