Responsibilities

  • The Hazardous Waste Technician will manage hazardous waste materials generated at Helion Energy’s facilities in a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Handle day-to-day waste management tasks including storage, labeling, and disposal in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work onsite at the Everett, WA office and report to the Sr. Manager of EHS.
  • Collect, segregate, label, and store hazardous waste (chemical and universal) per RCRA, WAC, and Washington State guidelines.
  • Assist with inspections of hazardous waste accumulation areas to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
  • Maintain inventory and waste tracking documentation; coordinate with external vendors for waste transportation and disposal.
  • Support emergency response for spills or releases; participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Collaborate with the EHS team to improve hazardous waste management procedures; provide training to staff on proper waste handling.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or related field.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hazardous waste handling, environmental services, or related role.
  • Experience in a research, energy, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and Washington State ecology and L&I regulations.
  • Ability to wear PPE, including respirators, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and commitment to safety.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a non-exempt hourly role. Hourly pay range: $29 - $34 USD. Total compensation includes base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with employer match, disability and life insurance, parental leave, and wellness stipend.
