POSITION SUMMARY
The Full-Time Evening Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in the collection of specimens from patients. This position also includes cross-training to assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) and support in specimen processing and filing. Reporting directly to the Phlebotomy Lead and Lab Manager, this individual is committed to fostering positive relationships with patients, physicians, and hospital staff. The Phlebotomist is essential in ensuring quality work and timely operations essential for patient care, always adapting to changes and seeking improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure phlebotomy supplies are adequately stocked for all shifts.
Manage clerical responsibilities efficiently.
Communicate effectively with coworkers, hospital personnel, and physicians.
Adapt to last-minute schedule changes to maintain laboratory coverage and patient care.
Collect samples from inpatients using standard venipuncture or skin puncture techniques.
Inventory and report on phlebotomy testing supplies to facilitate uninterrupted operations.
Deliver specimens to the lab as necessary.
Perform accurate data entry and demonstrate proficiency with the Lab Information System (LIS).
Utilize manual backup systems for the Lab Information System when needed.
Assist customers with queries regarding LIS information.
Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
Exhibit proper telephone etiquette at all times.
Execute additional duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
B. Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of 6 months experience in blood specimen collections, with 3 years preferred; current internal candidates with a California Certified Phlebotomy Technician License will also be considered.
C. Special Skills/Knowledge
Proficient in Lab Information Systems and computer applications.
Hold a current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
Completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training within 90 days of hire or notification.
