Viasat . What You'll Do We are looking for a Software Test Automation Engineer to join our team. We aim for scalable and maintainable solutions using industry-standard automation tools and frameworks to support Viasat’s high mix of vertically integrated products. You will work with engineers from multiple domains to improve test strategies, ensure adequate test coverage, and improve product designs. In a highly collaborative environment, you will align with software engineering standard processes and master our craft, including implementing and using CI/CD pipelines and standard libraries. You will be responsible for delivering quality test software solutions to internal and external customers supporting the entire product life cycle. The day-to-day Digest top-level requirements and provide feedback to ensure they are concise, testable, and realistic Derive test software requirements from stakeholder needs Design and document test software architectures for long-term maintenance and support Develop automated test software routines interfacing with DUTs and other hardware to ensure product quality Participate in continuous improvement activities to identify opportunities for reuse and process modifications that improve development efficiency Collaborate with product design engineers to create more testable products Participate in a data-driven test strategy This is an onsite role in Carlsbad, CA What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, CE, or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience 5+ years of systems and test experience in complex environments Experience developing software in a team environment using version control, build automation, bug tracking, test-driven development and related processes Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and/or TestStand Experience with C#, Python, and/or other text-based languages Experience with networking protocols (TCP, UDP, Multicast, etc.) and network devices used in product testing Experience implementing test automation, next-generation test platforms, instrument drivers (e.g., programmable power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators), and other test tools Experience creating software test plans to demonstrate requirements coverage and compliance Experience creating fully documented reusable libraries, abstractions, and APIs Results-oriented with a high degree of accountability and responsibility Must have an active DoD Secret clearance; US citizenship required Up to 10% travel What Will Help You On The Job Knowledge of current software development industry tools and best practices Knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns Good understanding of security, user privileges, and system administration Familiarity with development processes regarding sensitive materials Excellent communication skills Intellectual curiosity and a test mindset Desire to grow and quickly learn Salary range $135,500.00 - $214,000.00 annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is $168,500.00 - $252,500.00 annually. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided, along with benefits dependent on the position offered.
