Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences - Vancouver, USA
Overview We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It's a role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, focused on designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. Responsibilities Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK. Optimize existing functionality to improve performance, loading times, and parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms. Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin. Qualifications / Ideal Candidate Systems thinking: you design end-to-end systems with an emphasis on simplicity. Speed: you generate ideas quickly and discern what can ship now vs. what needs more time. Focus: you balance rapid work with the need to be heads-down when required in a fast-growth environment. Collaboration: you can inspire and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs. Preferred Tech Stack: Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform); prior experience with GCP is a plus.
