Overview
MSCI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable software applications in the finance domain. You will own architecture decisions, contribute to system design and technical strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust, scalable software applications in the finance domain.
Own architecture decisions and contribute to the evolution of system design and technical strategy.
Write clean, modular, and well-tested code, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—product, UX, QA—to understand business requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Mentor other engineers, perform code reviews, promote best practices, and foster a continuous learning culture.
Engage in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning of mission-critical systems.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance our platform capabilities.
Your Skills And Experience That Will Help You Excel
At least 6 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in the finance or fintech sectors, preferably working with analytics or investment systems.
Proven background in designing and implementing scalable, high-throughput systems.
Deep proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, Java, C++, Python, or similar.
Familiarity with financial concepts and products—such as risk modeling, portfolio analytics, indices, or ESG/climate data—is a strong plus.
Solid understanding of system design, distributed architectures, data structures, and algorithms.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Familiar with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker), orchestration tools (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
